Charles Meyers, C.Ac., M.S.O.M., NCCAOM

Charles Meyers is a nationally certified acupuncturist with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine practicing for over 28 years. He has studied with renowned Chinese, Japanese, and American instructors in all areas of Oriental Medicine and is also on the faculty of the Neuro Acupuncture Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Charles initiated his scholarly vocation with a strong base by obtaining his Masters in Science from Southwest Acupuncture College in 1991 and he then continued on to obtain his National Certification in 1994. He has been licensed in New Hampshire, Vermont and Wisconsin. He has also received advanced training in Qigong, TCM food therapies, scalp acupuncture for neurological disorders, and Chinese herbs.  Being an advocate for integrative medicine, Charles is aware of the benefits that Chinese and Western medicine provide while existing in synchronization, based on consciousness of their balancing strengths and restrictions. Charles keeps this in mind and this allows guidance of his treatments of each patient as an individual. He is excited to use acupuncture in conjunction with the healing benefits of the additional treatments offered at Lake Country Health Center.

In addition to clinic hours, Charles teaches Five Element nutrition classes, T’ai Chi Fundamentals, and Healing Qigong. Charles is careful, caring, and thorough in his approach to patient care. His willingness to have open communication with primary care providers ensures safe and proper treatment. He loves the relationship of helping individuals find health and balance. He believes that everyone’s life has been impacted by different impressions. From studying Chinese Medicine, he has seen the comprehensive patterns of how we develop disharmony and disease, from practicing meditation and as an ordained zen monk, he has insight into how we create many of our problems, and how to work on changing negative patterns. Combining these two, Charles feels that taking away pain or digestive problems is only part of the work. Helping people understand how their lifestyle may be creating or exacerbating their problem is how they can prevent further problems. That is where the healing takes place. In real estate, its location, location location. In preventative self healthcare its, lifestyle, lifestyle, lifestyle.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a practiced by many acupuncturists because it is believed to be an all inclusive method that works to create a sense of balance for the body, mind, and spirit. Charles has effectively provided TCM care for both male and female patients of all ages. He has treated a wide array of ailments ranging from arthritis, nerve & back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, fatigue, depression, gynecological conditions, headaches, and neurological disorders.

Charles lives with his wife in Madison, WI. They enjoy spending time in nature and have three grown sons, three grandsons and a granddaughter.
